Fine, straightforward intro to MATLAB

The book itself is serviceable and gets right to the point. There's not a whole lot of bloat, and it uses simple enough language without being condescending. I will say that it will be pretty helpful if you already know some programming, but I feel like that kind of goes without saying any time you're learning a language. The one thing I will dock the book for is there's a somewhat disconcerting number of typos, and the typos sometimes breed confusion (referring to particular vectors as having incorrect length, switching comments for particular command explanations, etc.). The typos aren't horrific in severity, but I'd imagine they might be disorienting for newcomers. All in all, a pretty good book.

Best help for Matlab programming

I am a current undergraduate student--soon to be graduate student (fingers crossed!) and am learning how to write Matlab scripts with little to no instruction. I found this book to be the most clear, concise, and knowledgeable Matlab guide I have come across yet. What I especially appreciate about this book is that it cites real life application in the instruction. The authors discuss particular commands in the context to how they are typically used in a a psychological experimental design. The language is also not overly technical and is perfect for any beginner. Thank you Professors Fine and Boynton!

great for a beginner

I was new to computer programming and I really enjoyed using an early version of this book to learn how to use MATLAB. I enjoyed the language used in the book and the exercises to help me think about the logical framework for programming. I used part of this book alongside a course I took. I look forward to reading the final product when I start to use MATLAB in future research tasks.
