God's Fire is the awesome story of the most human of experiences, the birth and establishment of a great god. The Hebrew Exodus from Egypt is here viewed as a well-led, well-managed expedition, both aided and beset by horrendous natural conditions. Earth was in those days undergoing a devastating encounter with a comet. An abundance of evidence is presented to delineate, and also integrate, the various effects of this long-drawn-out cosmic catastrophe. Emanating from the comet-Earth interaction were multitudinous electrical phenomena, accepted in principle by modern science, but hitherto incredible as history. On center-stage in this dramatic setting looms the figure of Moses, who is made understandable by the psychiatric method of the Author, but at the same time is grandiose beyond analytic language in his achievements. A score of great inventions are shown to be of Moses, including the electric Ark of the Covenant and, the greatest of them all, Yahweh himself. God's Fire is the literal nature of Yahweh.

Cosmic Electric Spirit
By Richard Stern
"God's fire" is lightning -- electrical discharges attributed by Moses to his god, Yahweh. Extra-terrestrial disturbances were causing multiple catastrophes -- not only fire, but hurricanes, earthquakes, tidal waves, plagues, and "quantavolutionary" metamorphoses, all within the memory of civilized humanity.
Moses harnessed some of this electricty charging from the sky for Machiavellian political purposes. He was the CEO of the Egyptian Hebrew exodus from the Pharoah's Nile delta. More royal Egyptian than Jewish tribal leader, he was a a sophisticated scientist, like Benjamin Franklin, an experimenter and inventor of an electrical arc charger -- the "Ark of the Covenant" -- permitting him to exhibit the power of Yahweh as the One responsible for the unprecedented events seen in the sky and experienced on Earth. Humans had not previously been conscious of the passing of comets, which altered the very position and composition of the bio-geography, causing a turmoil which charged the planet with magnetic electricity and irrevocably shocked the human psyche.
Moses, De Grazia demonstrates, had what amounted to an arc welder which he used to exhibit God's fiery power and electrocute his enemies. His megalomanic ambition and brilliant intelligence permitted him to rise up as the charismatic authoritarian leader of pastoral tribes needing a prophet to lead them away from catastrophes that included genocide. Moses was probably a certifiable schizophrenic (like other great leaders we could name), but he could rationally manufacture and extend his success as a theocratic nationalist leader. And he was an electrician.
Freud got Moses wrong, says De Grazia, due to his own identity problem. Freud subconsciously identified so completely with the Egyptian Moses that his analysis (Moses and Monotheism) was more self-analysis than a realistic consideration of the Hebrew prophet's personality.
God's Fire, for those unfamiliar with De Grazia's voluminous multidisciplinary work, is an excellent introduction to what is meant by "quantum evolution". Ignored, dismissed, or maligned by the compartmentalized scientific establishment for his unconventional theories and maverick radicalism, De Grazia is a rigorous academic scientist with the broadest possible approach to a grand hypotheses regarding (r)evolutionary transformations in our ecology imprinted even in our DNA. At the very least, God's Fire is a great alternative story of the origins of monotheism and madness.
